Is your home compliant with federal and state energy codes?

US Energy codes and regulations are constantly changing. When building or remodeling a home, it is important to have energy form calculations performed to ensure it is compliant with current energy standards.

Archenergy offers Energy Code Compliance forms calculation to homeowners, architects, and developers throughout Washington State and the United States. The legal obligation to comply with the energy code rests squarely on the undertakes to remodel or construct buildings. While the builder may ultimately carry responsibility for code compliance, many subcontractors and trades play critical roles in ensuring compliance with the energy code.

The aim of this service at Archenergy is to assist in reducing the burden associated with obtaining building permits by providing energy code compliance calculations (WSEC or REScheck reports) in the most cost-effective manner possible while also adhering to industry best practices.

We can assist you in ensuring that your new home project is designed and built by the energy code, allowing you to save important time and money post-construction.

Our energy code experts will evaluate a project during the design phase and then review it as required during construction to determine the most efficient code compliance path. Our experts will carefully evaluate your home’s design and produce your report promptly.

What is REScheck?

REScheck is the name of a software program developed by the energy department. We use the software tool to generate a REScheck report. A REScheck report is used to calculate several methods of complying with the IECC Energy regulations. To accomplish this, the software employs calculated trade-offs. In layman's words, this indicates that if you don't satisfy energy criteria in one area, you can compensate by exceeding them in another. A REScheck report will highlight the trade-offs that must be made to comply.

How Do I Pass A REScheck?

A REScheck assessment is based on two factors: U-value and home area. The U-value sum of the entire outer envelope must be less than a certain figure, depending on the size of the home. If the sum of the U-Values is greater, you must find a strategy to minimize it using the three separate components. You will comply with Section R402: Building Thermal Envelope of the IECC Energy Code once your U-value sum is less than the area calculation. Keep in mind that you must still adhere to the IECC tables for the remaining major systems
